You manage a project from its card menu.

Renaming, moving, duplicating, downloading, and deleting are all in the ⋯ menu on a project card. Select several projects to act on them at once from the bar at the bottom.

ToolBeginnerAbout 5 minWebDesktopTabletPhone

The card menu

Point at a card and click the ⋯ button that appears at its top right, or right-click the card. On a touchscreen, press and hold the card. The top of the menu shows the project’s picture, title, play access, and when it was last edited.

Items you can’t do on that project are greyed out. Who can do what lists who can do each thing.

Open in editor

Opens the project in the editor. Clicking the card’s picture or title does the same. In the desktop app, each project opens in its own window, and a project that’s already open brings its window to the front. In a browser 768 px wide or less, the play screen opens instead.

Play

Opens the project on the play screen without the editor. The Play button on the big home card does the same.

Share

Opens the Project Settings window on the Sharing tab, which has the same controls as the editor’s Share window. Play access and links are in Share with a link, and editor access is in Edit together.

Rename

Shortcut F2

Turns the card’s title into a text field in place. ↩ or a click elsewhere saves the new name, and esc leaves it as it was. Double-clicking the title does the same. Undo in the notice that follows changes it back.

Favorite

Pins the project to Favorites. On a pinned project, this item reads Unfavorite. The favorites list is covered in Tour Studio.

Move

Opens the Move window, where you choose a space and click Move. The window lists only the current team’s spaces, and the space the project is in now is marked ‘Already in this space’ and can’t be chosen. Undo in the notice that follows moves it back. There’s no way to move a project to another team. Download it as a .sshow file and upload it in that team to make a copy there.

Duplicate

Adds an identical copy of the project to the same space. A project someone else made can be duplicated only if its creator allowed it, and the copy goes into a space in your personal team.

DuplicateChoosing Duplicate from the card menu adds an identical project card. Video: In the Studio list, hovering over a card shows a three-dot button. Clicking it and choosing Duplicate shows the notice Project duplicated successfully, and an identical card appears.

Download .sshow

Downloads the whole project as one file, named after its title. Download a backup shows how to get several at once.

Settings

Opens the Project Settings window on the General tab. The Project Settings window goes through each tab.

Delete

Deletes the project after you confirm. There’s no trash, so it can’t be recovered.

DeleteChoosing Delete from the card menu brings up a confirmation, and clicking Delete removes the card and shows a notice. Video: Choosing Delete from a card’s three-dot menu brings up a confirmation that it can’t be undone, and clicking Delete removes the card and shows a notice that the project was deleted.

The Project Settings window

Open it with Settings in the card menu. It has three tabs, and your changes are saved only when you click Save Changes at the bottom of the window. If you can only view the project, the fields are locked and the bottom of the window has only Close.

General

Holds the Project Title, Description, and Status, and shows when the project was created, when it was last edited, and its file size. If you can only view it, ‘You can only view this project.’ shows at the top.

GeneralSettings in the card menu opens the window, and the General, Sharing, and Advanced tabs are clicked in turn. Video: Choosing Settings from a card’s three-dot menu opens the Project Settings window on the General tab. Clicking the Sharing and Advanced tabs in turn shows the play access list, then duplication, download, move and duplicate, and Delete Project.

Sharing

The same controls as the editor’s Share window. Who can play the project and its play link are covered in Share with a link, and who can edit it in Edit together.

Stage

At the bottom of the Sharing tab, you submit the project to Stage as a work or a template. Once a project is published as a template, Allow others to duplicate this project on the Advanced tab stays on and locked, with ‘Templates are always duplicable.’ underneath. Stage and templates has the details.

Advanced

Only the project’s creator can turn on Allow others to duplicate this project. When it’s on, other people who can view the project can duplicate it. Below that are Download .sshow, How to connect under AI apps, Move and Duplicate, and Delete Project. Only project owners see the Move button and the Delete Project row. Connect an AI app (MCP) explains AI apps.

Allow comments

This switch is at the top of the Advanced tab and starts on. Turn it off, and no one can comment on this work on Stage, and its comments are hidden. Turn it back on, and they show again.

Status

A project’s status is Draft, In Progress, Under Review, or Published, and every new project starts as Draft. The status comes first in the line of details on its card.

For one project, choose a status on the General tab of the Project Settings window and click Save Changes. You can also change it at the bottom of the editor’s Share window. For several, use Set status in the selection bar, and Undo in the notice changes them back. To filter a list by status, see Find projects.

StatusChoosing In Progress on the General tab and clicking Save Changes updates the status on the card. Video: On the General tab of the Project Settings window, clicking In Progress under Status and then Save Changes closes the window, and the first word in the card’s line of details changes to In Progress.

Setting a project to ‘Published’ doesn’t make it public

Status only marks where a project is in your team’s workflow. It doesn’t change who can see it. To let other people see a project, widen its play access, as Share with a link shows.

Act on several at once

Do this in a space or in a list such as Recent. You can’t select several projects on the home page.

  1. Select projects

Point at a card and click the checkbox at its top left. From then on, each click on a card selects or deselects it. Hold ⇧ and click to select every card in between. On a touchscreen, start with Select several in the card menu.

Clicking two checkboxes brings up the selection bar, and clicking Favorite stars both cards. Video: Clicking the checkboxes at the top left of two cards brings up a ‘2 selected’ bar at the bottom of the screen, and clicking Favorite stars both cards and shows a notice.
  2. Act from the selection bar

The selection bar appears at the bottom of the screen, with the number selected on its left. Click Download, Set status, Favorite, Move, or Delete. When the window is 880 px wide or less, Set status and Favorite are in the More menu.

  3. Clear the selection

Click the × Clear button at the right end of the bar, or press esc.

Drag to move

Drag a card onto a space row in the sidebar to move it to that space. If you drag one of several selected cards, they all move. Undo in the notice that follows moves them back. Dragging works only with a mouse or trackpad. On a touchscreen, use Move in the card menu.

Drag to moveDropping a card on a space row in the sidebar takes it out of the list, and the notice that it moved offers Undo. Video: Dragging a card onto the Client work row in the sidebar highlights the row, the card leaves the list, and a notice that it moved to Client work offers Undo.

Upload .sshow files

Click New project, then click Upload .sshow file in the What will you make? window. A window for choosing a file opens. Upload .sshow file is also in the ▾ menu next to New project.

You can also drop .sshow files anywhere on the Studio screen. ‘Upload to …’ appears, and the files go into the space you’re looking at. From the home page, they go into the space of the project on the big card.

Before uploading, Studio shows the size of the files you chose and what your usage will be afterward, and it won’t upload past your limit. Uploading one file opens that project in the editor right away. Several files are added to the list.

UploadClicking New project opens the What will you make? window, and clicking Upload .sshow file opens a window for choosing a file. Video: Clicking New project at the top right of the Studio home opens the What will you make? window, and clicking Upload .sshow file opens a window for choosing a file.

Download a backup

Download .sshow in the card menu downloads one file named after the project. Select several projects and click Download in the selection bar to get them all in one ‘sshow-projects-date.zip’ file. Unzip it first. You can upload the .sshow files inside again as described above, or open them in the desktop app, as Desktop app shows.

Deleting can’t be undone

There’s no trash, so a deleted project can’t be recovered, and the storage it used is freed right away. Before you delete something you might need, duplicate it or download it as a .sshow file. If you only want to tidy a list, move projects to another space instead.

Habits that keep projects safe

Tip

Before a big change. Duplicate the project first, so you can go back if the experiment goes wrong. The editor’s undo history is gone once you close the editor, and there’s no version history.

Tip

For projects you want to keep. Download them as .sshow files. Select several and click Download to get them all in one ZIP file.

Tip

As projects pile up. Group them into a space per client or topic, so you can still find them as your team grows. Teams and spaces shows how to create a space.
