Put your work on Stage, and start from a template.
Stage is a public gallery where anyone can browse and play work made with SSHOW. Submit your project to show it, or offer it as a template. You can also copy someone else’s template and start your own project from it.
Submitting switches play access to “Public” right away
Anyone who knows the address can view a public project without signing in. Play access stays “Public” while the project waits for review, and after you remove it from Stage.
To restrict access again, choose another level in Play Access in the Share window, then click Save Changes. Once the project is no longer public, it also comes off Stage, whether it’s in review or already live. Share with a link lists who can view at each level.
Submit to Stage
Sign in to s.show, and from Studio, open the project you want to submit in the editor. Stage works only on the web. The desktop and tablet apps don’t have it.
-
Open the Share window
Click the Share button on the right of the bar at the very top of the editor. The Share window opens. Scroll to the bottom of the window to find the Take the Stage section below Status.
Clicking Share and scrolling down the window brings up the Take the Stage section at the bottom. Video: Clicking the Share button in the bar at the top of the editor opens the Share window, and scrolling to the bottom of the window shows the Take the Stage section below Status. -
Open the form
Click the Take the Stage button. The Category, Tags, and note fields appear. The first time, AI reads your work and fills in the blanks. If you haven’t agreed to use AI features yet, the hint line shows “AI suggestions are off.” Click Turn on, then click Agree and continue in the “Before you use AI” window, and the AI fills in the blanks. These suggestions don’t use AI credits. You can change or remove what the AI picked in the next steps. To skip suggestions from now on, click Turn off in the hint line once the AI finishes filling in.
The form opens, and the categories, tags, and note the AI picked fill in at once. Video: Clicking Take the Stage opens the Category, Tags, and note fields, and AI reads the work and fills in two categories, tags, and a note. -
Choose categories and tags
Under Category, click up to 2 categories that fit your work. Click one again to remove it. Type a word in the Tags field and press ↩ to add it as a tag. You can add up to 5 tags, and remove one with its × button. You can submit with both left empty.
Clicking two category chips, then typing a word in the Tags field and pressing ↩, adds a tag. Video: Clicking two category chips makes the count 2 / 2, and typing Poster in the Tags field and pressing Enter adds the tag. -
Write a note
In the note field, type what you want to tell your audience, up to 500 characters. It appears on the work’s page as “From the maker.” You can leave it empty.
-
Decide whether to offer it as a template
To let others copy and use this project, turn on Submit as template. Once approved, it goes in the Templates list on Stage and in My templates in Studio. Anyone can copy all of its scenes and objects. Changes to a copy don’t affect your original.
-
Mark work made with AI
If you made the work using AI, turn on Made with AI. A “Made with AI” label then appears on its Stage card and page. Projects made with Create with AI have it on from the start, and you can’t turn it off. The same goes for duplicates and copies of such a project. If such a project was made in a style, the form names that style, as in “Made with the SSHOW style.” Turning it on opens the Style guideline field. Describe the work’s colors, fonts, layout, and motion, or paste in a DESIGN.md. You can write up to 60,000 characters, or leave it empty. While the field is empty, click Insert an outline to fill in a DESIGN.md outline. If you wrote your own style in Create with AI, that text is already in the field the first time you submit. Once a work with a guideline is live, it also appears under AI styles on Stage. Anyone can read and copy the guideline on the work’s page. If you turn the mark off and submit or save, the guideline you wrote is deleted.
-
Submit
Click Submit below the form. If the project isn’t public yet, the button reads Make public & submit. When a confirmation window appears, click the same button once more. SSHOW makes a thumbnail, and then “In review” appears at the top of the section.
Clicking Make public & submit twice makes a thumbnail, and “In review” appears at the top of the section. Video: Clicking Make public & submit brings up a confirmation, and clicking the same button again makes a thumbnail, then In review appears at the top of the section.
Review and results
Moderators check each submission before it goes live on Stage. When there’s a result, a dot appears on your profile picture at the top right of s.show. Click the profile picture to see the result under Notifications. The same news also arrives by email.
The current status shows at the top of the Take the Stage section in the Share window. Here’s what each label means and what you can do.
| Label | Meaning | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| In review | Moderators are checking your work. It doesn’t show on Stage yet. | Use Edit details to change the categories, tags, and note, or Remove from Stage to withdraw the submission. |
| Live on Stage | It’s on Stage, where anyone can browse and play it. Its page collects likes and comments. With Allow comments off on the Advanced tab of the project settings, it takes no comments and hides the ones it has. | Changes you make with Edit details apply right away, without another review. Use Remove from Stage to take it down. |
| Changes requested | Moderators asked for changes. The reason is under “Moderator note.” | Make the changes the note asks for, click Resubmit for review, then click Submit in the form. It’s reviewed again. |
| No label | You haven’t submitted it yet, or you removed it from Stage. | Submit again with Take the Stage, and it goes through review from the start. |
What shows on Stage
| What shows | Comes from | To change it |
|---|---|---|
| Title and description | The project’s current title and description | Change the title in the name field at the top left of the editor. Change the description in Studio, under ⋯ › Settings on the project card. Stage updates right away. |
| Thumbnail | The first scene as it was when you submitted or last saved | Edit the first scene, then click Edit details › Save in the Share window. Edit details on the work’s page doesn’t change it. |
| Categories, tags, and “From the maker” | The submission form | Click Edit details, make your changes, then click Save. Once the work is live, its page on Stage also has Edit details. |
| “Made with AI” label and style guideline | Made with AI and Style guideline in the submission form | In the Share window, click Edit details, make your changes, then click Save. Edit details on the work’s page doesn’t have these fields. Only the person who created the project can change them. On a project made with Create with AI, the label can’t be turned off. |
| The work that plays | The project as last saved | Changes show on Stage as soon as they’re saved. For big changes, Duplicate the project in Studio and work on the copy. |
| Animation and interaction badges on the card corner | Timeline animation or video in the work, and interactions such as clicks | SSHOW checks again when you submit or save in the Share window. A work with only transitions gets no animation badge. |
Start from a template
Copy a project someone offered as a template, and use it as your own. You can browse without signing in. You sign in when you make a copy.
-
Browse templates
Click Stage at the top of s.show, then click Templates in the bar above the list. The list now shows only works published as templates. You can also open the templates page directly.
-
Open a template
Click a card you like. The work’s page opens and the template plays. If it has several scenes, use the arrows below the player to move through them.
Clicking a card opens the work’s page and plays the template, and the arrow below brings up the next scene. Video: Clicking a card in the Templates list opens the work’s page and plays the template, and clicking the arrow below shows the next scene. -
Make a copy
Click Use this template. If you aren’t signed in, you come back to this page after you sign in, so click the button again. In the window, choose a Team and a Space, then click Use this template in the window. The same button also appears when you hover over a card in the list.
Choosing a team and a space and clicking Use this template opens the Studio dashboard, not the editor. Video: Clicking Use this template opens a window for choosing a team and a space, and clicking Use this template in that window opens the Studio dashboard, not the editor. -
Open the copy
Once the copy is made, Studio opens, not the editor. In the list on the left of Studio, click the space you chose in the window. Find the card whose name ends in “(Copy)” and click its picture. The copy opens in the editor. Its play access starts at “Private,” and editing it doesn’t change the original template. On a phone, the viewer opens instead of Studio.
Clicking the space, then the picture on the “(Copy)” card, opens the editor with “(Copy)” in the name field. Video: Clicking a space in the list on the left of Studio, then the picture on the card whose name ends in (Copy), opens the editor with (Copy) in the name field at the top left.
Browse AI styles
Click AI styles in the bar above the Stage list to see only works with a style guideline. Their makers wrote down each work’s style in words.
On a work’s page, click View guideline in the “Style guideline” row below the player. The full guideline opens in a window. Click Copy guideline to copy the text for use in another AI tool. You don’t need to sign in.
To make a new project in that style, click Create in this style on the work’s page or in the guideline window. The button shows once you’re signed in. Studio opens with the work’s style picked on the style chip of the AI box. The AI box is at the top of the Studio home and in the New project window. Write what to make and click Create. From there it works as in Create with AI. If your account can’t use Create with AI, Studio opens without the style.
Guidelines the SSHOW team picks become official styles. Official styles sit on the style cards on the Studio home and in the new project window, so you can pick them in Create with AI. Any live work with a guideline is a candidate, with nothing to apply for. An official style uses the guideline as it was when the team picked it. Later edits show up once the team picks it again. If the work comes off Stage, it is no longer an official style.
Try first, and other ways to start
Try it before you copy. Click Try it first on the work’s page to edit the template in the editor without signing in. Changes you make there aren’t saved, and they don’t carry over to a copy.
Start right from Studio. Click New project in Studio, then choose a card from the From a template list at the bottom of the window. If your account can use Create with AI, this list is titled Stage templates. Click Use this template to make a copy in the space set in Create in at the top of the window, and the editor opens right away. Create your first project covers this too.
You can copy some works that aren’t templates. If a work’s page shows Start from this design, its creator allows copies. Click it to make a copy the same way as with a template.
When submitting or copying doesn’t work
-
I submitted to Stage. Why isn’t my work in the list?
It shows on Stage only after the review is done. The result comes as a notification on your profile picture and by email. If you narrow play access below Public while the work is in review or live, it comes off Stage. To put it back, submit again with Take the Stage. Play access switches back to Public, and it goes through review from the start. -
If I set the status in the Share window to “Published,” does it go on Stage?
No. “Under Review” and “Published” in Status only note where the project is in your workflow. They have nothing to do with Stage. To go on Stage, submit with Take the Stage below it. -
Why is there no Take the Stage section in the Share window?
The desktop and tablet apps don’t have Stage. Sign in to s.show in a web browser and open the project from Studio. You don’t have to open the editor: in Studio, click the ⋯ button on the project card, then click Share to find the same section. -
What if “You don’t have permission to do that” appears?
Only the person who created the project can switch play access to Public or offer it as a template. Only the person who first submitted it can remove it from Stage. Once a work is submitted, only the person who created the project can change its Made with AI mark and Style guideline. Ask that person. -
If “No AI suggestions this time” appears, can I still submit?
Yes. Choose the categories and tags yourself. Free accounts get AI suggestions once their email is verified. If the hint line says “AI suggestions are off,” click Turn on. An account that hasn’t agreed to use AI features yet sees the “Before you use AI” window then. Each account can get suggestions only a set number of times a day, so this message can also appear on a day you submit several works in a row. -
What if “There’s no space to use yet” appears?
The team you chose has no spaces. Choose another team in Team in the window, or first create a space in that team in Studio. -
What if “You have reached maximum projects for this space” appears?
You can’t create more projects in the chosen space or account. Choose another Space in the window, or clean up projects you don’t use. Limits depend on your account.
