You change how you sign in, and your security settings, on the Settings page.
Sign in, recover a forgotten password, add a passkey, turn on 2-step verification, sign out places you don’t recognize, or delete your account. The settings are under Sign-in & security, Devices & apps, and Account on the Settings page, which the desktop and tablet apps open in your default browser.
If you don’t have an account
Join with your email, or click Continue with Google or Continue with Apple. Joining also creates a personal team and a space for you. Tour Studio explains teams and spaces.
The web and the desktop and tablet apps share one sign-in screen. In the apps, click Sign in with browser on the start screen to open it. After you sign in, click Allow sign-in as well (Desktop app · Tablet app).
-
Sign in on the sign-in screen
If you joined with Google or Apple, click Continue with Google or Continue with Apple. If you joined with an email, fill in Username or email and Password, then click Sign in. If you have a passkey, pick it from the list under Username or email, or click Sign in with a passkey. If you last signed in with Google, Apple, or a passkey, that button is marked ‘Last used’.
-
Confirm it’s you
If your account has 2-step verification on, the ‘One more step’ screen appears. If you set up an authenticator app, enter its 6-digit code and click Verify. To use another method, click Try another way and choose Passkey, Email code, or Backup code.
Reset a forgotten password
Accounts created with Google or Apple have no password. Sign in with that button on the sign-in screen.
-
Open password reset
On the sign-in screen, click the Forgot your password? link.
-
Get a reset link
Type the email you signed up with and click Send link. If that address has an account, an email arrives with a link for setting a new password. The link works once, within 2 hours.
-
Set a new password
Open the link in the email, enter a new password, and click Change password. This signs you out on every device, so sign in again with the new password.
Add a passkey
A passkey signs you in without a password, using your fingerprint, face, device lock, or a security key. Adding one doesn’t turn on 2-step verification, and while it’s on, a passkey also works as the second step. Every window that adds or removes a way to sign in first asks you to confirm it’s you, with something your account has, such as your password or an authenticator code.
-
Open Sign-in & security
Click your profile picture, then click Settings. In the Settings menu, click Sign-in & security.
-
Add the passkey
Under Passkeys, click Add passkey. If you leave the name empty, it shows where the passkey is saved, such as ‘Apple Passwords’. Confirm it’s you, then click Add on this device.
-
Finish on your device
Finish the fingerprint, face, or device lock check your device asks for. The new passkey appears in the list under Passkeys, each with Rename and Delete. A passkey your password manager made when you signed in with a password shows there too.
Turn on 2-step verification
With 2-step verification on, you confirm it’s you once more after you sign in with your password or with Google or Apple. Knowing your password alone isn’t enough to get in. Setting up an authenticator app turns it on.
-
Open Sign-in & security
Click your profile picture, click Settings, and then click Sign-in & security in the menu. At the top, it says ‘2-step verification is off.’
-
Set up an authenticator app
Click Turn on 2-step verification, or Set up on the Authenticator app row under 2-step verification. Confirm it’s you, then click Continue.
-
Scan the QR code
Scan the QR code with an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or 1Password. If you can’t scan it, use Copy key and enter the key in the app. Type the 6-digit code the app shows, then click Turn on.
-
Keep your backup codes
The first time you turn it on, 10 backup codes appear once. Use Copy, Download, or Print to keep them somewhere safe, then click I’ve saved them. When you can’t use your authenticator app or a passkey, one code signs you in, and each code works only once.
-
Add a recovery email
This step is optional, but with it you can still sign in by email if you lose your authenticator app. Click Add on the Recovery email row. Type an address other than your account email, confirm it’s you, and click Send code. Type the 6-digit code sent there within 15 minutes, then click Confirm.
Recover from a lost device, or turn 2-step verification off
If you lose the phone with your authenticator app, click Try another way when you sign in, and confirm with a Passkey, a Backup code, or an Email code. Email codes go only to accounts with a recovery email. If you can use none of them, tell us on the Contact page.
If you’ve used up or lost your backup codes, click Make new codes on the Backup codes row in Sign-in & security. Confirm it’s you, and new codes appear. Your previous codes stop working right away.
To turn 2-step verification off, click Turn off on the Turn off 2-step verification row. In ‘Turn off 2-step verification?’, confirm it’s you and click Turn off. Your authenticator app, backup codes, and recovery email are removed, and your passkeys stay. Turning it on again starts with setting up an authenticator app.
Change your password
On the Password row in Sign-in & security, click Change password. In the window, enter your current password and your new password twice, then click Change password. The new password needs at least 8 characters, with both letters and numbers and no spaces. The window ticks each rule as you meet it.
Changing it signs you out everywhere but this browser, and the desktop and tablet apps ask you to sign in again. Accounts created with Google or Apple have no password, so that row only says they sign in with Google or Apple and have no SSHOW password.
Link a Google or Apple account
Under Linked sign-ins in Sign-in & security, click Link on the Google or Apple row. Confirm it’s you and click Link, and you go to that account’s sign-in screen. When you come back, the row says ‘Linked’, and next time you can sign in with that button. A Google or Apple account that’s already linked to another SSHOW account can’t be linked.
To unlink it, click Unlink and confirm it’s you. If it’s your only way to sign in, Unlink isn’t available, and the row says it can’t be unlinked until you link another account.
See where you’re signed in
In the Settings menu, click Devices & apps. Where you’re signed in lists the browsers and SSHOW apps signed in to your account, each with roughly where and when it signed in, or for an app, when it was last used.
If you don’t recognize one, click Sign out on its row, then click Sign out again to confirm. The place you’re using now is first, marked ‘This device’, and can’t be signed out here. To keep only this device, click Sign out everywhere else under the list.
An app you sign out asks you to sign in again. Connected AI apps below the list is covered in Connect an AI app.
Sign out
Click your profile picture at the top right, then click Sign out. Sign out under Account in Settings also signs you out of this browser.
In the editor of the desktop and tablet apps, the app first asks ‘Sign out?’. Unsaved changes are lost, so check your work before you click Sign out. You then return to the app’s start screen.
Delete your account
Deleting your account removes it and every project, work, and file you own, and it can’t be undone. Download the projects you want to keep as .sshow files first (Work with projects).
-
Delete it on the web
In the Settings menu, click Account, then click Delete account. In ‘Delete your account?’, type your username and confirm it’s you. Then click Delete forever.
-
Delete it in the app
In the desktop or tablet app, open ⋯ › Settings and click the Account tab. Click Delete next to Delete account, enter your password if your account has one, and click Delete permanently. You return to the start screen.
An account that owns a team with other members can’t be deleted
If a team you own still has other members, the deletion is blocked, and a message asks you to remove them in that team’s Team Settings or delete the team, then try again. On the web, the window turns into ‘Sort out your teams first’, with those teams and Open teams in Studio. Teams and spaces shows how.
