Studio sorts your work into teams, spaces, and projects.
Studio is where you make and keep your projects. Move between teams and spaces in the sidebar on the left, and pick up where you left off on the home page.
Teams, spaces, and projects
Studio has three levels. A team holds spaces, and a space holds projects. A team is the group of people who work together, and a space is where a team keeps the projects for one client or topic.
When you sign up, you get a personal team that only you use, with one space in it called ‘Default Space’. At the top of the sidebar, your personal team is named ‘Personal’, with ‘Only you’ underneath. To work with other people, create a separate team. Teams and spaces shows how.
The sidebar
From the top, the sidebar on the left holds the team button, Search, the quick views, and your spaces. Click the team name at the top to open the team menu, and choose another team to go to its home page.
Search opens quick find, which looks through the current team’s projects and spaces. The row shows the current team’s name and ⌘K on the right. Find projects shows how to use it.
The quick views are Home, Recent, Favorites, and Works. Below them, Spaces lists your spaces in alphabetical order. The small picture on a row is the space’s most recently saved project. The number at the end is how many projects it holds, and a lock marks a private space. At the bottom are Plugins and the row that opens the guide. The row for where you are now has a shaded background and bold text.
Home and the quick views
Home
Each team has a home page, which opens when you switch to that team. The big card marked ‘Pick up where you left off’ is a project you opened recently, and Continue editing opens it in the editor again. Next to it are up to three other projects you opened recently. Below, each space gets a row of cards, for up to six spaces. Page through a row with the ‹ › buttons in its header, or click View all to open that space. If you can use Create with AI, a ‘What will you make?’ box sits above the big card. Create with AI explains it.
Recent
Shows the projects you opened or played from Studio, newest first. Your account remembers the last 20, and you see the ones in the current team. They stay in the order you opened them, so there’s no sort button. Clear recent in the ⋯ menu next to the title empties it for the current team only.
Favorites
The ★ at the top right of a card pins the project to your favorites. Favorite in the card menu does the same, as does Favorite in the bar at the bottom when several projects are selected. Phones don’t show the ★ on cards, so use Favorite in the card menu there. The list shows the current team’s favorites, and they’re saved to your account, so they’re the same on every device. You can pin up to 200 projects.
Works
Gathers your own projects whose play access is Public from all your teams. That’s why the path above the title starts with ‘All my teams’ instead of a team name. Turning off Show this project in my works in the sharing settings takes a project out. To show your works on your public profile, see Account and notifications.
My templates
Gathers your projects published to Stage as templates from all your teams. The path above the title starts with ‘All my teams’. Stage and templates shows how to publish one.
Project cards
A card’s picture is the project’s first scene. Below it are the title and one line of details: the status, who last edited it, and when. Outside a space’s own list, the space name is added. If you made the last edit, your name is left out. The icon at the end of the line shows the play access, and projects shown in your works get one more icon.
With a mouse, pointing at a card shows a checkbox at the top left and the ★ and ⋯ buttons at the top right. Cards in the home page’s rows have no checkbox. If the project has motion, resting the pointer on its card plays its first few seconds without sound. It doesn’t play if Reduce motion is turned on in your operating system.
On a touchscreen such as a tablet, the ★ and ⋯ buttons always show. On phones 640 px wide or less, only the ⋯ button shows on a card. The line of details leaves out who edited it, and a pinned project gets a star at its end.
Click a card’s picture or title to open it in the editor. Work with projects covers everything in the card menu.
Narrow screens and phones
When the window is 880 px wide or less, the sidebar folds away. Click the ☰ Open sidebar button at the top left to slide it out as a drawer.
On phones 640 px wide or less, a tab bar at the bottom of the screen takes the sidebar’s place. It has four tabs: Home, Favorites, Spaces, and More. Spaces brings up the team row and your spaces from the bottom, and More brings up the other quick views, such as Recent, Works, and Plugins. On a touchscreen, swipe a row on the home page sideways to page through it.
In a narrow browser window, projects open to play
In a browser 768 px wide or less, tapping a card opens the play screen instead of the editor. The big card on the home page offers Play and Copy Link instead. The screen is too narrow for the editor. To edit a project, widen the window or open it on a tablet or computer. The desktop and tablet apps open the editor at any window width.
