In the tablet app, you zoom and end playback with two fingers.
The SSHOW app for iPad and Android tablets runs the same Studio and editor as the desktop app, on one screen. You zoom, right-click, and end playback with your fingers.
Get the app
Get the iPad or Android tablet app from the Download SSHOW page. The iPad app needs iPadOS 15.4 or later, and the Android tablet app needs Android 7.0 or later.
Start the app
When you open the app, you see the same start screen as in the desktop app. Tap Sign in with browser, and a sign-in window opens over the app. Sign in and tap Allow sign-in, and Studio opens. You can also make or open local files under On this device without signing in. Desktop app covers the start screen in detail.
The tablet app has a single window, so Studio, the editor, and playback take turns on one screen. Tap Studio in the editor to go back to Studio, and if you have unsaved changes, the app asks before you leave. On Android, the back button first closes any open window, and in the editor it takes you back to Studio.
Fingers, pen, and keyboard
Zoom and move around
Spread or pinch two fingers to zoom the canvas and the timeline in or out. Drag with two fingers together to move around.
Right-click
Press and hold an object for about half a second to open the right-click menu. Press and hold a project card in Studio to open its card menu.
Double-click
Two quick taps work as a double-click. Double-tap text to edit it.
Pen
While a pen such as Apple Pencil touches the screen, your palm and other fingers are ignored. Use the pen to select and to draw.
Trackpad and keyboard
On a trackpad such as the Magic Keyboard’s, spread or pinch two fingers to zoom, with the same feel as on a desktop. With a hardware keyboard, all the shortcuts work (All shortcuts).
Leave playback
-
Play and move through it
Tap the triangle-shaped Present from this scene button at the top right of the editor. The status bar and the top bar disappear, and the scene fills the screen. Tap the screen once or swipe left to go to the next one.
-
Tap with two fingers to end it
Tap the screen with two fingers. Playback ends, and you’re back in the editor. When playback starts, a hint at the bottom shows this gesture for a moment. On Android, the back button works too.
-
End playback you opened from Studio
A play view you opened with Play in Studio also ends with a two-finger tap and takes you back to the Studio list. You can also tap Exit in the toolbar at the bottom right. If the toolbar is hidden, tap where it sits.
Only the tablet app has the two-finger tap
When you play a project in your tablet’s web browser, a two-finger tap doesn’t end it. If you started playback in the editor, move past the last scene and tap once more on the “End of show” card, or press esc on a hardware keyboard. If you opened it with Play in Studio, use the browser’s back button.
Open files on this device and work offline
Open a .sshow file with SSHOW from the Files app, or choose SSHOW in the share sheet, and it opens in the editor as a local file. On the start screen, you can also make a New local project or use Open .sshow file under On this device.
Local files open and save without the internet. Saving and the watermark work as in the desktop app (Desktop app · Save and undo).
The app downloads fixes and improvements to the editor engine and uses them from the next time you start it. The plugin list changes from the next editor you open.
